Ouch! I Broke A Nail

Hello Sweeties!

This is my second post for the day. It is a rather quick one just to let you know what just happend. I broke my nail. BADLY! I was folding down the ironing board to store it and then I felt my nail breaking. I almost ripped it off completely.

I had to cut it off immediately to avoid any damage to my nail bed. Even though I was lucky enough not to break the nail further down and hurting myself real bad it is so strange to look at that short nail. It is more of a psychological pain I guess... I am just glad it is not my 'swatching hand'.
My fingertip feels a little tingely and extremely sensitive. It's weird! And all that just two days before my vacation starts. Unbelievable!

The manicure I'm wearing in these pictures will be on the blog on Sunday.

An Ode to the American Flag (July 3rd):
I really hope you like my picks for this month. Wich manicures would you have picked?

Catrice - Holo My Hand

Hello Loves!

You almost made it through this week! Today I want to show you one of my new polishes I bought while I was in Austria. (See the full Salzburg haul here.) This is catrice LE holographic - Holo My Hand (C15).
Holo My Hand is a light blue holographic polish that shimmers in all colours of the rainbow when it's under any kind of light, but mostly you see a pinkish purple and green. This polish has an excellent formula that spreads evenly and applies smoothly. For full opacity you need two coats.
Unfortunately I got a few bubbles on my ringfinger, but they are hardly visible in the pictures. Sadly so is the gorgeous holographic shimmer. It almost looks like it has a foil finish in these pictures taken indoors with a flash and without any topcoat.
In sunlight it even seems to be dull and blunt. I really don't like it in these pictures, but in real life it truly looks amazing.

I decided to add some topcoat and take some more pictures to see if that makes any difference on camera, but it barely does.
To cover up those little bubbles and add a bit of contrast to my nails I made some polkadots on my ringfinger using Misslyn satin melat nail polish - edgy (11F). It is a fantastic iridescent dark grey to black glitter that I have to try on its own soon.

I love how it sparkles. It is a wonderful match for Holo My Hand. These two go so well together.
How do you like this light blue holo? Do you have any tips on tow to photograph holo polishes properly? I always end up with pictures that don't do the actual polish any justice.

kiko 240 - Apple Red & Mickey Mouse Manicure

Hello Loves!

Last week my fianceés niece had her fourth Birthday and I was the designated photographer for the party. First I wanted to do a colourful rainbow water decal manicure for the occasion, but it went all wrong and I had to start over and come up with something new. (I will show you my big fail a bit later.) After twisting my mind for a while and browsing the web I came up with the idea to this Mickey Mouse manicure that was inspired by several pinterest pins.
As a base for my red nails I used kiko - Red Apple (240) wich is a fantastic polish. It is opaque in two coats, dries quickly and applies smoothly. For my white nails I used cartice - Get Boho In SoHo, wich I will show you with my rainbow water decal fail. (Both of these polishes are from my huge Salzburg haul.)
On my index- and pinkiefinger I used NYX - White to make polkadots. Sadly I got some streakes on the indexfinger, but I guess it lookes still okay. On my ringfinger I used a dotting tool and a nail art brush to create the large Mickey Mouse head shape in the corner with s-he stylezone -296.
I then added some black rhinestones to the upper part of that nail to make a small Mickey head and did the same by using different sized clear rhinestones on my middlefinger. My thumb was a bit more tricky, but I managed to draw a decent Minnie Mouse bow. My niece liked it, but she was so busy playing with her friends and opening her presents she didn't really care... :-D But I know what I did and I know you are going to acknowledge my hard work!
So I hope you like my girlie Birthday manicure!

Butterfly Water Decals

Hello Sweeties!

How are you doing today? On this lovely Tuesday morning I have a short but colourful post to share with you. I used some of my new water decals to create this manicure.
I started my manicure with two coats of Wet 'n Wild - Frenche White Creme and let that base dry very well. In the meantime I prepared my decals by cutting them into nail sized pieces.
Then I soaked them in water one by one and applied them to the nails. As a last step I sealed them in carefully with Seche Vite.
I really like these decals. The butterflies are beautiful, but in my opinion a full manicure with them looks too unsteady. I'll try and do only an accent with these beauties next time to emphasise them even better.
What do you think of these water decals? Would you do a full set with them or use them as an accent?

Purple & White Tape Mani

Hello Sweeties!

How are you today? Did you enjoy your weekend? Today I want to show you a quick manicure I did last week when I was wearing p2 - watch me walking. On the second day of wearing it I wanted to spice it up a bit.

So I applied some nail tip guides diagonally across my nails and then covered it with two coats of Wet 'n Wild - French White Creme. Once the second coat was on my nail I immediately removed the tape with some tweezers. To illuminate this manicure and add some sparkle, I applied a layer of china glaze - Fairy Dust before topcoating my manicure.

This manicure reminds me a bit of Zebra stripes. I totally love the look although I am not sure it is perfect for summer. The glittering white parts remind me of snow. So maybe with another base colour this could be a perfect winter mani. I guess with red it could make gorgeous Candy Canes.
What do you think about this manicure? Do you like the taped stripes? Would you rather wear this now or in the colder months?

essie - cute as a button & button stamping

Hello Sweeties!

Happy Sunday! I hope you had a lovely weekend so far and can enjoy the rest of it. Today I want to share with you essie - Cute As A Button (73).
This gorgeous coral creme has an excellent formula and is fully opaque in two coats. It applies smoothly and dries quickly. I love the flat brush that comes with most essie polishes. It allowes easy application and in most cases there is absolutely no clean-up required.
That was no different with Cute As A Button. What I love about this polish, next than reminding me of watermelons, is its glossy finish. I did not use a topcoat for these swatches.

To underline the cute name of this polish I decided to do a little stamping on top. I picked a pattern that fits the name perfectly: BUTTONS! :-D
I used my black stamping polish for this manicure. I have no idea what the name of the stampingplate is. There is nothing engraved, but the number 05. I ordered a bunch of plates online a while back, but there never was any mention of the producer.

Here is a quick look at the pattern I used for my button manicure.
I really love the combo of Cute As A Button and the button stamping.

How do you like this manicure? Doesn't this underline the polish name perfectly?
